Abstract : A theoretical scheme for characterizing the excitation functions and cross sections of neon has been developed. The results are in good agreement with experiment. Electron excitation functions of some 30 states of argon have been measured, and the results can be explained by extending the theoretical scheme described above. The ionization-excitation cross sections of He to the 4s,p,d,f, states of He(+) have been measured. Electron excitation functions of some 15 states of potassium have been measured. Electron excitation cross sections of individual magnetic sublevels of 4 doublet P(3/2) of K have been measured. (Modified author abstract)
