Abstract : The operation and use of the NRL 60-MeV electron Linac is described for the period 1 January - 31 December 1973. Highlights of the applied and basic research programs are reviewed. The applied programs include radiation effects on electronics, photo-activation analysis, and neutron and x-ray diagnostic studies in laser-fusion and exploding wire plasmas. The basic programs include 180 degree electron-nuclear scattering and neutron time-of-flight research. The Linac was manned for 3919 hours, which breaks down to 3076 hours for beam and set-up time (including 546 hours for outside users). 828 hours for maintenance and improvements and 15 hours lost to breakdowns. A bibliography is included as well as brief descriptions of Linac use by other groups. (Author)
