Abstract : A pulsed Argon laser was used as a stimulus to evoke the electroretinogram of the rabbit eye. The characteristics and changes in the electroretinogram were examined for different stimulus intensities and for various levels of adapting or background light. The adapting light was produced by a continuous Argon laser. The results of rabbit experiments were compared to similar intraretinal and intracellular recordings. Of particular interest was the correlation of the parameters of the electroretinogram with the electrical activity of the different retinal cell types. (Modified author abstract)
