Abstract : Whether the disposal of ordnance packaging creates a special or un-usual problem because of either a large volume of material or because of explosive contamination is determined. Results indicate that the handling or disposal is not an unusual or insurmountable problem, improvement can be made by designing packaging which is stackable or collapsible, and packaging (and other refuse) is sometimes disposed of by open burning which is in violation of local or national laws, however, attempts are being made to install incinerators or to create landfills. The trend of future ordnance packaging is outlined. (A. di M.-PL)
