Abstract : The power gains of eight convolvers were compared. Curved or 'focussed' input transducers, thinner samples on EC-64 PZT, and DC bias on the output plate gave larger power gains compared to the conventional devices on EC-69 PZT and barium titanate. An overall power gain of -50 dB at one watt input power was realized with a convoler using curved transducers on a 0.23 cm EC-64 PZT substrate. This is comparable to typical power gains of -30 dB by using a silicon-lithium niobate structure. (Author)
