Abstract : The Republic of China is at a crossroad period in its long history. Recent actions taken by the United States to open the door to The Peoples Republic of China on the mainland coupled with the ouster of the Nationalist Chinese Government from the United Nations has raised a serious question of whether or not the Republic of China can continue to exert influence on the conduct of international affairs. The study surveys the past and current economic advancement accomplished on Taiwan and focuses attention on establishment of a unique arrangement of export zones to stimulate foreign investment and trade.
