Abstract : The properties of amorphous and disordered magnetic systems were investigated in transition metal oxide-aluminosilicate glasses and in noble metal-transition metal spin glass alloys. Sharp peaks in the temperature dependence of the low field magnetic susceptibilities were found at low temperatures which do not seem to be associated with magnetic phase transitions. These sharp peaks may be due to an anisotropy mechanism in the alumino-silicate glasses. The origin of this behavior is not understood in the dilute alloys which show striking systematic similarities despite differences in alloy components and local magnetic clustering effects. (Author)
