Abstract : A parametric study of the flow of saline water intrusions which are driven into rivers by tidal fluctuations was accomplished with a mathematical model. Specifically, the saltwater intrusion at the bottom of Bayou Lafourche was studied. Empirical eddy transport was used, and available field data served as boundary conditions. The finite-difference model describes unsteady flow variation in two spatial dimensions. The use of the third spatial dimension is not necessary to describe the physical phenomena governing the intrusion. (Author)
