Abstract : Vertical, lateral and torsional wave bending moments, and vertical and lateral shears were measured at two sections of a 1/140-scale model of the SL-7 containership. The model was self-propelled through a ship speed range of 24 and 32 knots at seven headings to regular waves of lengths between 0.25 and 2.0 times the length between perpendiculars. Motions were also measured. Two ship conditions: light and full load were covered. Results are presented in charts of load or motions amplitude/wave amplitude vs. wave length and phase lag vs. wave length, with heading, ship speed and loading condition as parameters. (Author)
