Abstract : Contained herein are a description of a model and a calculation procedure for planar, cylindrical or spherical geometries used to predict the flow-field parameters for non-steady, non-ideal blast waves, generated by the deposition of energy over a known temporal and spatial regime. This modeling consists of adding energy into a constant heat capacity gas and numerically integrating the equations of motion using a constant time-step method of characteristics, with appropriate initial and boundary conditions. Two non-dimensional parameters are presented which relate similar non-ideal energy sources and predict that their limit behaviors should approach an ideal point source on one hand and the source which generates a propagating acoustic wave on the other.
