Abstract : The results of an investigation to determine the effects of boundary layer growth on the stability of supersonic laminar boundary layers are reported. Mean flow terms which arise because of boundary layer growth were added to the parallel flow, linearized small disturbance equations applicable to supersonic laminar boundary layer flows. Traveling wave solutions for the small disturbance quantities were assumed and the resulting stability equations were numerically integrated using Gram-Schmidt orthonomalization to control parasitic error growth. Various cases of augmented stability equations were considered ranging from the inclusion in all equations of all terms which arise because of boundary layer growth to the inclusion of only the streamtube stretching term to the streamwise momentum equation.
