Abstract : The impulse activity of the neurons of the auditory cortex (zone A1) was investigated on anesthetized cats under the influence of single clicks, series of clicks and signals with properties of moving sound. Pronounced changes were observed in the activity of neurons. The changes were regularly connected with the side and degree of leading (enhancement) of the stimulus. A significant number of neurons (23%) exhibited the ability to fix the direction of the 'moving' sound with specific changes in activity. Many cortical neurons are able to react to interaural differences in stimulation with delayed changes in impulsation developing a considerable time after the stimulus is switched off.
