Abstract : A free-flight testing system for a gun tunnel is described which is principally applied to other kinds of wind tunnels. A special device, using the model dropping technique, sets the model free just before the flow has been established. During the test the model becomes accelerated by aerodynamic forces. Its time dependent location and attitude are recorded by an electronic-optical system. After the tunnel run the model is caught by a net and may be used several times. (Modified author abstract)
