Abstract : Investigations show that the possibility of using glass-fiber-reinforced plastics in construction is limited not so much by temperature, as the time of its action. If this time is small (on the order of several seconds), glass-fiber-reinforced plastics can withstand the action of very high temperatures with comparatively small loss of strength. This important property of glass-fiber-reinforced plastics permits using them as heat-insulation and structural materials under conditions of thermal shock.
