Abstract : Experimental studies of comparative performance of 3 basic low temperature electrode designs were done in a Mach 5 MHD flow. Protruding wire electrodes parallel to the B field direction were distinctly superior to flush electrodes and to wires protruding in the E-field direction. The high Mach number channel is especially suited to the study of strong electromagnetic interaction in nonequilibrium generators. Preliminary results are reported. (Author)
