Abstract : Change in electrical conductivity, radiation, and thermal stability of PbN6, coprecipitated with CuN6 and AgN3, are studied during radiolysis in vacuum. The data show a decrease in conductivity in proportion to addition of Cu(2+) ions and a slight decrease with addition of Ag(+) ions. This is due to formation of a CuN6 intrusion in the PbN6 solid solution and decrease in concentration of mobile anion vacancies and, tentatively, formation of PbN6-AgN3 replacement solid solutions. Saturation with Ag(+) ions occurs only at high concentrations, while radiolysis inhibition by Cu(2+) ions stops increasing at about 0.05 mole % Cu(2+). Ag+ is an electron donor in the process and Cu(2+) is an acceptor.
