Abstract : Damping characteristics for magnesium and aluminum alloys were determined on cast and deformed materials. All loading was torsional. Measurements were taken for vibrational decrement, strain, and amplitude. The data show a magnesium alloy, (Mg-0.6Zr) to be most suitable for structural applications requiring resistance to vibrational loading.
