Abstract : Various techniques for inducing chronic morphine self-ingestion in the rat have been investigated. The rationale for these efforts was an interest in determining the usefulness of various procedures for subsequent use in time-series investigations. The overall goal of these projects was to develop an experimental regimen which would enable one to study both acute and chronic drug ingestion profiles, as well as, tolerance and abstinence phenomena.
