Abstract : An integrated electronic packaging system is developed as part of a Quick and Easy Design (QED) project, using standardized hardware packages with standardized interfacing. Goals are to reduce design, development, and system production time and improve logistics for Navy electronic systems while achieving lower life cycle costs. The QED standard hardware, which can be carried as supply stock items, include electronic circuit cards, card cages, and equipment enclosures. The QED standard hardware has provisions to accommodate advanced LSI technology. Implementation of the QED standardized hardware is part of NELC's 2175 Program to achieve a two-for-one reduction in electronic system life cycle costs by 1975. (Author)
