Abstract : The application of laboratory data on velocities of elastic waves in interpreting seismographic material imposes distinct requirements for experimental work. It is important to know not only the simultaneous effect of comprehensive pressure on elastic wave velocity, but also the effect of the extended interstitial area. Such investigations have been undertaken for low-porous crystalline rock. It was established that filling the interstitial areas with liquid greatly affected longitudinal wave velocity in this type of rock; the greater the length of the rimiform porosity, the greater the effect.
