Abstract : The dissociation of fluorine was studied behind a reflected shock wave in a reflected shock tube coupled to a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Using mixtures of 0.5% F2 in Ar, dissociation rate constants and equilibrium constants were determined over the temperature range 1575 - 2540K by following the time rate of change of the mole fractions of F2 and F atoms. Activation energy and heat of dissociation are reported. Experimental apparatus and design are discussed.
