Abstract : Research was conducted into an absolute gravity meter based on the novel concept of a microscopic, free-bouncing, charged particle. Design and assembly of an experimental gravity meter system including automatic data processing to aid in the performance evaluation was completed. The 10 cm quartz reference length bars were calibrated to an accuracy of plus or minus 0.02 micron by the National Research Council, Canada. Standard deviations for runs of 128 bounce have been 8 to 12 mgal under fixed height and pressure conditions. A 4 hour, 40 minute continuous stability test showed the average of the g-averages stayed within plus or minus 8 mgal throughout. (Modified author abstract)
