Abstract : Dog kidneys were perfused in vitro. These organs were found to almost completely metabolize histamine. When normal horse serum was introduced into the kidneys of intact dogs histamine concentration in the outflowing perfusate showed some increase; when it was administered into the kidneys of sensitized dogs histamine concentration was found to diminish in the outflowing perfusate in 73% of cases, this pointing to increase in the activity of histamine-activating enzymes in the process of anaphylaxic development.
