Abstract : The project is the result of an effort to define an optimal consumer risk when sampling a product whose cost can be expressed as a function of quality in a closed mathematical form. The approach to this problem required the determination of the expected cost of a product by using an estimate of quality of the product based on a sample. The result of this project is a method which defines a decision point for the class of products described, and should permit determination of a reasonable consumer's risk. (Author)
