Abstract : The paper presents a brief introduction to minicomputers and their real-time, industrial applications, and considers how the subject might be taught to graduate level industrial engineering students. In carrying out the objectives of the paper, the author considers what he feels are the pertinent areas of minicomputer hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Several areas where minicomputers are applied in industry are discussed. Also, how the subject might be integrated into the courses at the Intern Training Center is considered, along with a determination of the types of equipment needed for laboratory exercises. (Author)
