Abstract : The interest in this investigation is the measurement of the time delay between a known sensory stimulus and the resulting evoked brain wave potential to that specific stimulus. The problem is complicated by the fact that the time delay (defined here as 'throughput speed') is generally greater than stimulus repetition rates which produce measureable results. An experimentally verified procedure is described which uses 'real time' cross-correlation techniques to identify the correct time delay between a sensory stimulus and the corresponding evoked potential in the brain. Thus a measure of the throughput speed of the brain can be established. Differences between left and right hemispheric activity can be determined as well as differences within halves of the brain.
