Abstract : Data from experiments using a forward mutation system in Schizosaccharomyces pombe following exposure to gamma-rays are reported. When these data were analyzed for mutation rates per locus per rad and normalized for the DNA content of S. pombe, the values obtained were very similar to those predicted by the correlations suggested by Abrahamson et al. This forward mutation system in S. pombe has been extensively used and well characterized.
