Abstract : The indirect hemagglutination (IHA), indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) and ameba immobilization (AI) tests were compared on serum samples from 52 patients with proved amebic infections, 22 apparently healthy persons, and 83 patients with miscellaneous diseases in whom Entamoeba histolytica was not proved, in order to evaluate the sensitivity and level of antibody response between these tests in amebic infections. It was indicated that IHA, IFA and AI tests positive serum would support that the disease was amebic origin; only one test positive or three tests negative serum might be clinically not significant, and the two tests (IHA and IFA, or IHA and AI, or IFA and AI) positive serum would need clinical findings for reliable diagnosis.
