Abstract : The Advanced Air Traffic Management System (AATMS) study was initiated by the Department of Transportation in an effort to evaluate various air traffic control concepts in the 1995 era. The purpose was to aid in the long-range planning of engineering and development, and to identify areas that appear the most promising for early initiation. The system proposed in this study to handle the traffic and provide the services required in 1995 is composed of extensions of the Upgraded Third Generation ATC System. This report summarizes the findings and recommendations of the MITRE/OSEM study. This study examined techniques and costs for alternative ways of building upon the 1982 Baseline ATC System.
