Abstract : This paper shows the development of a method for the estimation of the parameters of the exponential and rectangular distributions. An unsuccessful attempt is made to show that all but random error is eliminated by the use of an F test statistic. The assumption is made the failure-times are from life testing without replacement. The estimators are developed by regression and fitting of the failure data to a theoretical cumulative distribution. Computer simulations are employed to calculate the estimator and the test statistic. (Author)
