Abstract : The incremental tangent-modulus approach of the finite element formulation together with the computer program has been developed for the two dimensional problem of thick-walled tubes subjected to axisymmetric loadings. The material model is elastic-plastic strain hardening, obeying the Mises yield criterion and the Prandtl-Reuss flow theory. The illustrative example is an open-end gun tube loaded by a band of internal pressure. Both the hardening and non-hardening tubes under uniform and non-uniform loadings have been considered. The numerical results of the stresses and displacement are presented only for the non-hardening tube under uniform loading condition. (Author)
