Abstract : A modified dual feedhorn antenna assembly for the air route surveillance radar (ARSR-2) was evaluated on a comparison basis with the normal feedhorn in attaining optimum radar coverage. Data indicated that ground clutter at close-in radar ranges was significantly reduced by use of a high-angle antenna beam (passive feedhorn) resulting in improvement in signal-to-clutter response at these ranges. Installation of the dual feedhorn antenna assembly as a field modification is considered feasible. (Author)
