Abstract : A study is conducted to determine the feasibility of improving the service record of the 3 inch/50 MARK 33 Gun Mount. Investigations into new loading concepts, increased reliability and maintainability, and reduction in operating costs by eliminating on-mount personnel are discussed and evaluated. Also included are present limitations of the MARK 56 and MARK 63 FIRE Control Systems. Adaptability of the MARK 14 (RG) Gunsight to the MARK 63 FCS is a suggested improvement discussed. (Author)
