Abstract : Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) has been shown to be a valuable technique in reducing the bandwidth of digitized speech. The autocorrelation and the covariance method are the two basic approaches that have been used to determine the predictor coefficients. This report discusses and compares several of the available methods for the formation and solution of the linear equations used in each method. (Author)
