Abstract : SPLIFIT is an interactive graphics program to curve fit for a maximum of 50 input points using cubic spline functions for the smoothing process. This method forces the fitted curve through the given points and has been compared to a draftsman hand fit using the mechanical 'spline' as a tool. The method is most useful when there are very few input points to be curve fitted. Available interactive options include, among others, ADD POINTS, DELETE POINTS, RESCALE AXES, and printer HARD COPY. The cubic splines derived are available as part of the printed output. (Author)
