Abstract : Sensitization of the organism is accompanied by a tendency toward the accumulation of acetylcholine and a reduction in the activity of cholinesterase in the brain as well as an accumulation of acetylcholine and a slight increase in cholinesterase activity in the blood. A significant increase in the concentration of free and total acetylcholine in the brain and blood is observed in anaphylactic shock as well as a pronounced reduction of activity of cholinesterase in the central nervous system and blood. The suggestion was made that the dynamics of cholinergic processes during anaphylactic reactions of the body indicate the priority of shifts in the reticular formation of the brain stem and depend on the function of cortico-subcortical sections of the central nervous system.
