Abstract : The development of a magnetoelectric flowmeter for measuring the mass flowrate of cryogenic propellants is described in detail. The magnetoelectric flowmeter concept described herein is one in which a magnetic field, proportional to flowrate, is generated by the flow of a dielectric fluid through an electric field. A means is described whereby the output of the flowmeter is proportional to mass flowrate. This type of meter presents an obstructionless flow passage; contains no moving parts; possesses linearity over an extreme dynamic range; is inherently small and compact; and possesses a long shelf life. Comprehensive theoretical and engineering analysis of the modus-operandi are presented. (Modified author abstract)
