Abstract : This report consists of two parts. The first part contains five sections, each section being devoted for a paper or note as below: (1) An X-ray Photographic Study of the Reaction Kinetics of alpha-cellulose decomposition. (2) Pyrolysis Effects in the Transfer of Heat and Mass in Thermally Decomposing Organic Solids. (3) A Scale Effect in the Pyrolysis of Solids. (4) A Transient Heating Technique for Measurement of the Thermal Diffusivity of Alpha-Cellulosic Materials. (5) Some Effects of Size, Orientation and Fuel Molecular Weight on the Burning of Fuel Soaked Wicks. The second part of the report is a compilation of two aspects of the work presently in progress: (6) Gross effects of Inhibitor Content in Alpha-Cellulose on Ignition, Active Pyrolysis and Extinction. (7) Study of the Secondary Pyrolysis in the Combustion of Woody Materials. A Survey of Porous Plug Reactor Literature and the Design of an Experimental Reactor.
