Abstract : This memorandum contains both steady state (neutron fluence) and transient (gamma rate) effects information for resistive elements. Graphs of general trends of neutron fluence effects as well as tabular summaries of the results of radiation studies are included. Radiation effects in resistors generally are small in comparison to those experienced by semiconductors or capacitors. Generally, resistors can be used at neutron fluences as high as 10 to the 16th power n/sq.cm (fast) with resistance changes due to radiation being nor more than would be expected from normal use. An equivalent circuit for gamma rate effects, data for the equivalent circuit, and a discussion of factors influencing gamma rate effects on resistors are given. Although gamma radiation effects are relatively small in resistors, these effects may be significant in some circuits at exposure rates as low as 10,000,000 R/sec. (Author)
