Abstract : In the present program of research on rotating beam vibration, the primary problem has been the design and construction of an apparatus suitable for the study of the forced structural response of a pinned-free rotating beam in the laboratory. The present report indicates the design approach and summarizes the physical status of the apparatus in more detail than has heretofore been made available. Since it now appears that an adequate, working, experimental setup is attainable, an outline of future potential experimental plans utilizing this apparatus is in order and is also presented.
