Abstract : This phase of the program has resulted in the improvement and optimization of electrical, optical, and magneto-chemical properties pertinent to the fabrication of a thin film magneto-diffractive wall display. The studies and investigations have resulted in the following: optimization on yield of evaporated thin films, development of low drive plastic films, development of a new improved colloid, Firm understanding of film drive requirements and switching times, a deliverable self-contained feasibility model of a 8192 bit programmable display equipment. The work to date has also pointed up areas which require further investigation such as: environmental and lifetime testing of display panels, improvement in colloid switching time, thorough analytic investigation of lighting requirements for a large wall display, packaging techniques for a wall panel display, further development of plastic substrate films, establishment of reproducible photometric techniques for display evaluation.
