Abstract : This study is directed toward investigating the utilization of inertial navigation system data in conjunction with the photogrammetric reduction of aerial photography. The combined utilization of these two sensors is quite natural and has been common practice in reconnaissance work for many years. However, hitherto, the combined metric reduction of inertial and photogrammetric data has been done in an approximate and naive fashion. With the development of operational programs, as documented in Davis, Johnson, and Gyer (1964) for the analytic reduction of aerial photography, the direct numerical integration of the various inertial system channels with the corresponding photographic orientation has become feasible. Thus, camera attitude, for example, as determined by an inertial system could be incorporated directly in the analytic reduction of blocks of aerial photography. (Author)
