Abstract : Investigation of the dispersive characteristics of yttrium iron garnet single crystals, operating in the spin wave mode, was initiated for evaluation as a medium for pulse compression techniques. No significant compression ratios have been measured thus far in single crystal garnets, but techniques for arraying several single crystal garnets are being investigated and have yielded promising results. A parallel program of supporting analytical studies was performed in the areas of Dispersion Optimization and Side Lobe Suppression. (Author)
