Abstract : Research concerns the design of future airborne obstacle avoidance equipment for use in Army aircraft under tactical conditions. A detailed study of the radar returns from cables at millimeter wavelengths was continued. The investigation into the frequency agility technique, was continued. The effects of frequency agility on clutter and wire obstacle characteristics are reviewed and a technique for realizing frequency agility using a ferrite phase shifting device is presented. A set of computer programs for generating a modulated radar pulse and transmitting it through the IF and video-detector stages of a radar receiver have been developed.
