Abstract : Work has continued with the objective of showing the feasibility of fabricating a large area array segment in which individual cells are simultaneously interconnected by thin film techniques. The ohmic contact has proven to be the major obstacle to the achievement of an integrated array with reasonable performance. An evaporated zinc contact shows promise of solving this problem. Progress has been made toward the elimination of all photo-resist steps in array fabrication. Arrays made by these techniques are now being assembled. Film growing techniques have been successfully modified to permit reproducible process runs on 0.001 in. molybdenum substrate. Cells stored under laboratory environment conditions for approximately 23 weeks have shown, on the average, a -8% change in efficiency. All of the observed change occurred in the first 16 weeks of storage. (Author)
