Abstract : When the speed of sound is constant and velocity of the medium is varying linearly with depth, the ray path can be described by an arc of a circle. If the speed of sound is decreasing linearly with depth, and the medium is moving with a constant velocity, the ray path can also be approximated as an arc of a circle. If both the speed of sound and velocity of the medium do not vary with depth, the ray path is a straight line.
