Abstract : A circuit was devised which exhibits long-term analog memory by stabilizing the voltage across a capacitor. The voltage controls the length of a delay whose beginning is synchronized with an oscillator. After the delay, the oscillator output is sampled and fed as a current to the capacitor. This is repeated at regular intervals so that average current is a periodic function of voltage. Over a certain range, the feedback current causes numerous stable voltages to exist wherever it cancels the leakage current. A compensator cancels the effect of leakage in the neighborhood of the stable point. (Author)
