Abstract : The results of this work to date demonstrate that a computationally stable dynamic model has been developed for the advective region. However, because of the lack of synoptic data, the quality of the results cannot be evaluated completely. Many problems remain to be solved. Vertical velocities in the straits regions and in some other locations reach the same order of magnitude as the horizontal currents. More control of the effects from inflow and outflow regions should be maintained. Effects of the surface layer, irregular bottom, and non-constant borders are also needed to make the model more comprehensive.
