Abstract : The phase function of the Single Side-Band Signal is discussed. The Mean Value of the derivative of its phase function (referred to as D. C. Component) is analyzed. It is shown that the D. C. component corresponds to the position of the peak component in the spectrum. The analysis can then be extended to a complicated signal like speech sound. Some experimental results, obtained by both analog and digital methods, are shown. Some application to the extraction of characteristic parameters of speech are discussed. From the theoretical point of view, this method differs from the rho sub 0 meter. These extracted signals may be used as parameters for statistical speech recognition. (Author)
