Abstract : This report is in response to the need for test station reliability information. It has been written after two and one-half years of investigation into practices to foster equipment reliability and of collection and analysis of use and failure data. The report as a whole was compiled for use in improving test station equipment reliability and in making reliability specifications for equipment procurement. In Part I, failures and usage are analyzed for past reliability performance, future predictions and particular units requiring improvements in reliability. The types of failures, both in general and particular, most frequently found are discussed to guide future improvements and purchases. Several special programs such as developing reliable soldering techniques and more complete repair manuals are described in Part II. (Author)
